Space Dynamics Laboratory Information Systems - Cloud Engineer in Ogden, Utah

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), Information Systems Group is seeking an Information Systems Engineer to ensure the successful program execution for an Air Force Research Laboratory customer.

Candidate must have experience with cloud-based services (AWS or Azure) .  Job listing skills are AWS centric, but equivalent Azure experience is acceptable.  Candidate must be detail-oriented with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. It is critical to be able to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment, be self-motivated, reliable and execute tasks independently.

Work Location:

Ogden, Utah

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Must have an active security clearance

  • Bachelors/Master's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent years of experience

    Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Planning, designing, and integrating cloud-based infrastructure and services

  • System Administration – AWS Inspector, NESSUS, ACAS, SCAP, DISA STIGs, Group Policy

  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with customers security guidelines.

  • Experience with VPC networking, EC2 instance deployment and autoscaling.

  • Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle

  • Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required

  • Employing proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they snowball into problems

  • Helping in the design, deployment, and maintenance of networks

     Recommended Skills and Experience:

  • Experience migrating on premises infrastructure to cloud based services

  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server Administration

  • Experience working with OpenStack, Rackspace, Kubernetes, Docker

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Services

  • Knowledge of VPC, EC2, S3, EBS, web services, API, REST and RPC.

  • Experience with Lambda with Amazon API Gateway and Relational Databases (RDS)

  • Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS.

  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, VPN infrastructure, load balancing, application firewalls, and distributed networks

  • Knowledge of Performance Monitoring

  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification required; AWS Solutions Architect professional certification preferred.  Equivalent Azure certifications accepted.

  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks
