Weber State University College of Science Coordinator of Commun in OGDEN, Utah

The Coordinator of Community Engagement in Weber State s College of Science will work with community partners,faculty,and students in order to support and extend existing community programs (Science in the Parks,Discovery Trail,Museum of Natural Science,Science Saturday,etc.) and develop new programs that expand the College s educational outreach and braid with community needs. The Coordinator will be empowered to expand programs,invent new initiatives,and collaborate with departments and student clubs in a manner that supports and cultivates a mission towards community engagement. Tasks: Direct Science in the Parks,Natural Science Museum programs,Discovery Science Trail programs,and other programs. Partner with and support the mission of programs such as Science Saturdays,Ott Planetarium,Open House,Ritchey Science Fair,MathCounts,etc. Promote student engagement and learning opportunities in the community,explicitly connecting with students via clubs and organizations (e.g.,TEAMS,Scientista,etc.) and community engaged courses (e.g.,preservice and inservice teaching courses,CEL designated courses). Facilitate opportunities with other offices (e.g.,Center for Community Engaged Learning) and connections between multiple departments. Collaborate with faculty,staff,and students to develop new initiatives that meet specific community needs. In particular,the Coordinator will work closely with the COS Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to facilitate internal and external COS outreach and communications. Pursue new community partnerships,programming,and grant writing as they are warranted.
