QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid Iowa Teaching Certificate 2. Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education 3. Master's Degree in Reading 4. Reading Endorsement 5. Experience with developing and understanding core reading instruction K-5 6. Experience with intervention process to close achievement gaps

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL RUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance and support for and implementation of the District's student achievement goals. 2. Provides targeted instruction to small groups of students using high quality research based interventions. 3. Gather, organize, and interpret assessment data of identified students. 4. Utilize best practice instructional strategies to meet the learning needs of students. 5. Model the use of intervention strategies for classroom teachers. 6. Administer diagnostic assessments to students to make instructional decisions and guide student problem-solving. 7. Demonstrate effective lesson planning that aligns with core classroom instruction to obtain a strong instructional package for all students needing targeted instruction. 8. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of standards and benchmarks/learning objectives, establishing and communicating to students clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects. 9. Use research-based instructional strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of all students. 10. Make provisions for being available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable and contractual terms. 11. Facilitate graph review meetings with grade level teams to guide targeted instruction. 12. Collaborate with classroom teachers and building administrator to support the needs of individual students. 13. Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis of individual, class and grade level data sets and be able to lead grade levels in this process. 14. Provide professional development opportunities that promote improved instruction and knowledge of best practices for teaching. 15. Develop and maintain a positive learning environment conducive for sstudent learning. 16. Effectively communicate with families, student needs and progress on a frequent basis.
