The HAZMART Warehouse Technician is responsible for the proper storage of all hazardous materials (HM) both in Free Issue and LRS warehouse areas. Responsibilities include proper chemical segregation, shelf life monitoring, and material condition. Additional HAZMART Warehouse Technician duties include assisting customers, conducting shop hazardous material compliance assessments, and ensuring compliance with hazardous material requirements and maintaining good housekeeping in the warehouse at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Display total customer service attitude at all times

  • Complete pulls and put-aways of HM from military supply warehouse as well as excess serviceable material from various sources

  • Monitor Shelf life of HM and extend as required in accordance with current directives

  • Issue HM as directed by customer request, in an expeditious manner

  • Ensure that all HM has been properly entered in EMIS/EESOH-MIS and labelled with various material control labels

  • Accurately locate, segregate incompatibles, and manage inventories of assigned warehouse storage inventory.

  • Conduct hazardous material assessments to insure shops are compliant

  • Receive empty HM containers or tracking labels from customers and after processing paperwork, properly disposing of containers and closing out tracking labels

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and neat work environment at all times

  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe manner.

  • Must track hazardous material transactions in EESOH-MIS

  • Maintain SAP/IAP where applicable.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Existing NACI clearance preferred.

  • Forklift certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to qualify for NACI clearance and/or DoD Common Access Card

  • Ability to safely move and load extremely heavy drums and containers, in excess of 400 pounds, with provided material handling equipment.

  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification.

  • Knowledge of supply system procedures and inventory control

  • Possess a sound understanding of hazardous materials, their physical properties, compatibility.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and carry out assignments independently

  • Experience in general warehousing operations; material receipt, storage, and issue

  • HAZMART experience and/or Air Force Supply System preferred

  • EESOH-MIS Hazmat Tracking System experience preferred.

  • Must be able to safely move and load extremely heavy drums and containers, in excess of 400 pounds, with provided material handling equipment

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Although work is primarily in a warehouse environment that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, incumbents may be subjected to rain, cold, bright sun etc. Must be capable to complete forklift certification where required and meet safety requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
