Position Summary
The Logistics Manager is a member of the Leiden Manufacturing Site’s Supply Chain team. You are accountable to manage import and export activities to bring to the Site direct & indirect materials directly from Suppliers or from our sister Sites in the Network. This position will work in close collaboration with Global Logistics, Direct and Indirect materials planners and buyers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Freight Forwarders, and other internal and external stakeholders. This position is intended for someone with a strong understanding of logistics management.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with import/export and domestic shipping regulations.
Author and update logistics operating procedures, work instructions and provide support on continuous improvement projects.
Perform deviation investigations and corrective/preventive actions and author and support change controls.
Knowledge of customs and tax regulations, as well as transport regulations, and Incoterms 2020.
Process requests for transport according to stakeholder’s requirements (inbound and outbound, across all modes) and manage deviations from the standard process.
Responsible of delivery times, transport logistics, customs, and tax services.
Responsible for organizing transport from ports, airports, warehouse, delivery from suppliers to the CTF.
Secure required transport equipment, set up pickup/delivery appointments, check transport related documentation.
Manage communication with shipping and receiving points and carriers in relation to managed transport moves.
Monitor shipment statuses and act upon any observed deviations.
Support implementation of new processes by providing feedback and testing new solutions.
Audit broker documentation for compliance with import regulations.
Monitor freight forwarders performance in reverse logistics process.
Develop and implement KPI and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
•Advanced proficiency in the Dutch Language
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or similar education.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may substitute.
• 10+ years of experience in relevant work experience, preferred to have some experience in biopharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry.
• Good insight in processes and dependencies.
• Preferred but not required: Certification in CPIM, CSCP, and/or CLTD11
