Hubbard Construction Company Route Manager - Mid Florida Materials in Ocoee, Florida

General Description

The Route Manager will manage and direct the day to day operations of the Trucking business for Mid-Florida Materials Truck Division. Will work with Operations Manager to implement operation strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of the department goals

Key Duties

  • Oversee all trucking operations within the company. Plan, organize, direct and control operations activities.

  • Assist with hiring, training, developing and motivating employees toward accomplishing company goals.

  • Conduct daily JSA Meetings with Staff prior to start of the workday

  • Coordinate daily operational equipment needs with maintenance department.

  • Ensure that all vehicles, and equipment in trucking operations remain in safe and efficient operating conditions, as well as kept in a clean, presentable condition.

  • Support and enforce all company safety program. Cooperate with the company Safety Manager and continually ensure that all company operations and activities are performed in a consistently safe manner.

  • Conduct Field Observations

  • Conduct Accident investigations

  • Review employee timecards daily

  • Ensure that all company operations are in strict compliance with county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the environment.

  • Adhere to all Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations and ensure that all company operations follow all related state and federal regulations

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualification Requirements

  • General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Education and Experience. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Route Manager. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Must have a minimum of four years in the industry. FDOT experience is a must. Valid Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record required.

  • Physical Demands . The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Route Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
  • Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds individually and up to 90 pounds with assistance.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.

  • Exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise.

  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project need(s) and demand(s).

    Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Route Manager encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction site.

  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
