Tri-City Medical Center Patient Mobility Technician Dispatcher in Oceanside, California

Position Summary:

Under the direction of Supervisor or designee, assists in workflow, orientation and education of Patient Mobility Technicians. Provides assistance to the Healthcare Team in performing complex patient lifts, transfers, and positioning of patients.

Major Position Responsibilities:

The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.   • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.

  • Communicate with each department Charge Nurse or Manager to ensure the completion of all shifts’ duties. Periodically checks on all staff during each shift. Ensures pertinent information is communicated to next shift.

  • Monitors requests from department staff for patient lift assistance and dispatches lift team employees as needed.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves daily problems for departmental staff and other medical center personnel that occur during the shift.

  • Receives unscheduled absence/tardy calls and makes arrangements for coverage in absence of supervisor or designee.

  • Ensures ongoing education and training of lift equipment.

  • Maintains inventory of lift equipment.

  • Assures breaks for Patient Mobility Technician staff are taken appropriately.

  • Ensures that orientation and appropriate training is provided to staff within area of responsibility, including but not limited to, job expectations and requirements.

  • Communicates the progress and abilities of staff to supervisor or designee.

  • Communicates equipment and staffing needs, concerns and suggestions for improvement using appropriate lines of authority in a timely and effective manner.

  • Adheres to TCMC safety policies and practices including maintenance of clear hallways.

  • Able to perform and execute all duties of the Patient Mobility Technician.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years direct patient care experience, required.

  • Excellent organizational skills, required.

  • Must be able to lift and transport patients greater than 100 pounds, required.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English, required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, required.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED, required.

Certifications:

  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (healthcare provider), required.

  • NVCI certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer to this position.
