Responsibilities

We are currently looking for qualified full time Music/Art Therapist to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals working with Adults dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. The Activities Therapist plans, organizes, coordinates and leads recreation therapy activities. The Activities Therapist will ensure the program is appropriate to the needs and interest and capacities of patients and is directed toward restoring and maintaining optimal levels of physical and psychosocial functioning. Responsibilities also include assessing each patient within seventy-two (72) hours of admission and completing daily progress notes on patient's participation toward recreation goals.     Qualifications

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

  • Masters degree in Music or Art Therapy

  • Two (2) years of experience providing Music or Art Therapy in a psychiatric setting with adult population or a Long Term Care setting preferred.

  • Current certification in Recreation Therapy or eligible to sit for exam.

  • Certification must be obtained within first year of employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care training including appropriate use of seclusion and restraints within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in a restraining process.

  • Working knowledge of recreational therapy programming.

  • Driving record must meet or exceed the facility standards.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

  • Extensive sitting, standing, walking, reading, lifting over (50 lbs.) pounds and participation in active physical recreational program.

  • Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds.
