Our Location:

We are located in picturesque Marion County, FL. The county is known as the Horse Capital of the World. Enjoy the outdoors at one of the county’s serene parks, which includes wonderful hiking trails, river rafting, and tubing. Watch the county’s wildlife and view the scenery by taking a horseback ride through one of the area’s riding trails. Considered the heart of Florida, the beautiful region is centrally located within hours of many activities. Just a drive away from some of the state’s amusement parks or beautiful Florida beaches. We are currently looking for a qualified Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals working with Adults dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. The Mental Health Tech (MHT) provides direct care support to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients.

Hours: Ability to provide PRN availability of 7a-7p or 7p-7a with at least 1 weekend day per month.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Mental Health Tech is responsible for providing:

· Direct care to adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patients.

· Primary responsible for ensuring the patient’s safety on the unit.

· Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients through the life span depending on which unit worked.

· Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

· Maintain compliance with HealthStream and in-service trainings.

· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· High school graduate or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field strongly preferred.

· One (1) year of direct patient care experience required.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).

· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

· Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) a plus.

· Current CPR and First Aid Certification.

· Successful completion of Verbal De-Escalation and Handle with Care training including appropriate use of seclusion and restraints.

· Previous acute care/behavioral related experience may be considered in lieu of one year’s experience.

· Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, and therapeutic human interactions.

· Demonstrates understanding of program and philosophy and can interpret and implement patient care.

· Displays an active interest in learning.

· Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrates leadership by training new employees.

Effectively interacts with patients, peers, and families.

· Demonstrates ability to follow behavior program.

· Actively demonstrates therapeutic boundaries with patients and families.

· Actively supervises therapeutic and recreational activities.

· Understands and practices effective motivational techniques.

· Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

· Must be able to follow company’s attendance policy.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

· Must be able to listen and speak clearly on telephone.
