SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Commodity Manager, Electronics will be responsible for electronics supplier management, components purchasing and inventory to support both the Akron Brass, Weldon, and Fire & Safety Group businesses as required.

REPORTS TO (Title) : Director of Engineering and Quality

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers

  • Seeks out, identifies and qualifies new electronics and contract manufacturing suppliers

  • Oversees and maintainsinventories for all electronic components

  • Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future electronics buying trends and markets

  • Assesses financial risks of purchases regarding excess or PPV control

  • Works and negotiates with suppliers to ensure market pricing for the business unit(s)

  • Understand current market conditions, Geo-political environment and incorporate into commodity strategies to effectively mitigate supply chain risk.

  • Utilizes 80/20 mindset to establish strategies and reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities. This also includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction and leading project teams to do so

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Required experience in identifying and developing new electronics suppliers, buying electronic components (PCBs, controllers) and turnkey electronics products through contract manufacturers

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years in a prior electronics commodities' role or similar

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • 25% travel.

  • Perform general office functions.

  • Visual acuity required for close detail work and computer use.

  • General manufacturing, warehouse, and office environment.
