JOB PURPOSE: The Quality Engineer will perform varied engineering assignments andprojects at a medium level of complexity related to in-process and finalinspections processes. They will be responsible for the efficient flow ofproduct and documentation through the QC Lab while assuring complianceto customer, regulatory and company requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and resolve standard product/process non-conformanceissues.

  • Review and formulate new methods (CMM programs) to measure orinspect the parts more efficiently.

  • Review dimensional inspection reports (DIR) and perform finalinspections as required.

  • Investigate daily non-conformances and reworked product, and coachinspectors as required to analyze production data.

  • Build from the CMM and in process inspection results, follow up withthe team in completing reaction plans to enable machine operators toadjust the machine or tooling to reduce process variation back tonominal.

  • Raise engineering change requests (ECRs) to drive corrective actionsto eliminate non-conformances.

  • Drive continuous improvement with engineering and production tobuild inspection rationalization plan to improve throughput andstandardize work instruction into the work order (MCS).

  • Review receiving inspection reports and release material to the shopfloor.

  • Approve new releases or revisions of purchase orders, inspectionand test plans, and manufacturing control sheets (MCS).

  • Drive and manage all NCR’s for disposition and recommend toengineering necessary DDR’s.

  • Release weekly KPI’s and drive the monthly Corrective Action Boardto review monthly metrics for NCR’s, scrap, reworks stratified by type.

  • Take the lead to close customer corrective actions by working withEngineering and Production departments.

  • May be required to conduct Source Release/Witness inspections atvendor sites, which includes dimensional inspection, documentation

  • review, etc.

  • Ensure on time delivery of completed history dockets for yourrespective products.

  • Ensure successful completion of the assigned project phase withinthe budgeted time and cost constraints.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in metrology, quality, or engineeringdiscipline OR equivalent experience and education. Bachelor’s degree isan asset.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a quality engineering role or related field.

  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and N299 qualityprograms is an asset.

  • Experience in precision-machined parts manufacturing and relatedprocesses including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testingactivities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus oncontinuous improvement.

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills in order to workeffectively within a team-based environment.

    The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $60,000, and $93,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
