What will you do?

The Commercial Project Manager bears responsibility for completion of all commercial and legal tasks regarding deadlines, cost, and quality requirements in projects. The role also includes tasks relating to financial analysis of projects and for the related branches of Siemens on an ad hoc basis (Branch Financial Analyst support ).

Responsibilities:

Commercial Project Management:

  • Ensuring appropriate and timely project booking-including definition of revenue recognition method (POC), project structure and partner roles, planning of cost and revenue, insurance and guarantees.

  • Commercial Project Management and Controlling including ongoing analysis of plan/actual deviations on project level and within WBS structure.

  • Work with project managers on projects ongoing update on project calculation, timely invoicing and payment follow up, regular project reviews and status meetings, project reporting as required, regular checks of project bookings/assigned cost and corrections if required.

  • Forecast and Reporting including support of Business Lines in monthly/quarterly Forecast process related to Order Intake, Net Sales, Gross Margin/Gross Profit, project related provisions/accruals.

  • Timely checks for project related provisions/accruals/risk contingencies on basis of adequate documentation.

  • Opportunity & Risk Management including identification and financial assessment of opportunities with PM, definition, and implementation of suitable measures for reducing risks and realizing opportunities.

  • Claims and Contract Management including contract reviews, commercial analysis of customer and supplier contracts for claim or variation order potential.

FIN Analyst Support:

  • Perform Financial Reporting, month-end activities, Cost Center Analysis and Variance & Trend Analysis.

  • Supporting Project Managers and Branch Operation Managers with project forecast preparation, analysis & reporting monthly while owning various reports that contribute directly or indirectly towards the creation of the major financial forecast & KPIs.

  • Support to the Branch Financial Manager in questions concerning the commercial project execution but also general financial state of the branches.

  • Support controlling with yearly risk and internal control audits.

  • Other ad-hoc duties as needed.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) within or related to the Finance Field (Master’s Degree would be a plus) OR 3+ years of diverse experience in commercial project management or project controlling.

  • Understanding of construction industry and projects.

  • Problem solving skills and quick understanding of diverse issues and problems.

  • Accounting principles knowledge.

  • Financial reporting knowledge is a plus and will be required while fulfilling the position.

  • Team player and collaboration skills are critical as the position will collaborate with a wide variety of colleagues and teams sometimes across Canada (virtually).

  • Flexible and self-motivated with a pro-active workstyle and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.

Assets (Nice-to-have):

  • Additional experience in the commercial management of customer projects.

  • Experience working with SAP and other relevant systems.

  • Risk management, contract law and claim management knowledge.

  • Project controlling knowledge (budget, cost calculation, timeline, cost change management, cash management, FX controlling).
