As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Automotive Service Technician to join our team at our Timbrook Ford of Oakland dealership. The Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles to ensure they are safe and operating efficiently. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks, according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to identify any safety or performance concerns and recommend necessary repairs.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot vehicle problems accurately.
  • Interpret diagnostic codes and data to determine the root cause of issues and develop appropriate repair plans.
  • Keep up to date with advancements in automotive technology and diagnostic techniques.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts, such as belts, hoses, brakes, and filters, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Source and order replacement parts as needed, ensuring compatibility and quality.
  • Document parts used and work performed accurately in service records.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their vehicle concerns and explain repair options and costs clearly.
  • Provide estimates for repair work and obtain customer approval before proceeding with repairs.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and service bays.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on safety practices and technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive repair preferred.
  • 2 years of experience as an Automotive Service Technician or similar role.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment, including scan tools, multimeters, and diagnostic software is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
