Shimmick Field Engineer III in Oakland, California

Overview

Shimmick is seeking a higly talented Field Engineer to be based out of Oakland, CA . This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Electrical Division

Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for civil projects. Shimmick offers electrical expertise in transit, water/wastewater, alternative energy, power generation and transmission civil work, as well as commercial building projects. This division’s ability to self-perform offers additional value to clients and enables better control of cost and schedule for projects with major electrical scopes. The Electrical Division serves clients which include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under general supervision, performs routine duties.

  • Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.

  • Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.

  • Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.

  • Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.

  • May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy civil construction and/or electrical experience

  • CAD, BlueBeam, and/or P6 preferred

Additional Information:

The salary range for this position is between $105,000 - 115,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
