Description

BGS is seeking a subject matter expert (SME) knowledgeable in the areas of material management, packaging & transportation, nuclear quality assurance, weapons quality, and procurement, to conduct independent assessments in these and other nuclear/technical operations on behalf of Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS) at the Y-12 National Security Complex, located in Oak Ridge, TN.

Directives required by CNS’ contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has specific training/qualification requirements for independent assessment staff that perform assessments at Y-12. Specifically, American Society for Mechanical Engineers NQA-1,Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Application, and DOE O 414.1D,Quality Assurance, drive CNS to select independent assessors that have training/experience in the areas to be assessed. The candidate will conduct independent assessments, and other reviews, per the direction of the Enterprise Independent Assessment Program (EIAP) Senior Manager. The candidate will provide the necessary planning, execution, and reporting to ensure that independent assessments are conducted in accordance with defined schedules and applicable procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads or participates in independent assessments/surveillances.

  • Leads or participates in briefings and supporting discussions with functional program stakeholders (e.g., material management, packaging & transportation, nuclear quality assurance, weapons quality, and procurement), senior leadership, and external entities, as requested.

  • Participates on Systems Based Reviews, performed by the Enterprise Analysis & Oversight Organization.

  • Participates in significant event investigations, as applicable.

  • Prepares independent assessment/surveillance plans and reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A minimum education of Bachelor of Science.

  • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience.

  • Able to obtain and maintain certification in the human Reliability Program (HRP).

  • Able to obtain and maintain Lead Auditor certification.

  • Able to complete all site and facility access training required of the position.

  • Must be US citizen.

  • Successful drug screening.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
