Position Summary

RSI is seeking a talented environmental scientist to support the Water Resources Restoration Program (WRRP) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Site. The WRRP monitors environmental media to provide performance and baseline data and to evaluate the effectiveness of CERCLA decisions and is responsible for the tracking and certification of Land Use Controls (LUCs) across the site. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills, demonstrate attention to detail and organization, and be capable of multi-tasking.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review CERCLA decision documents to identify CERCLA long term stewardship (LTS) requirements and how they will be implemented on site.

  • Coordinate with appropriate Surveillance and Maintenance (S&M) programs at the three Oak Ridge sites (East Tennessee Technology Park [ETTP], Oak Ridge National Laboratory [ORNL], and Y-12 National Security Complex) specifically in areas concerning CERCLA LTS requirements.

  • Provide support for tracking and coordination of CERCLA LTS requirements include the annual certification of LUCs.

  • Provide support to groundwater license agreement organization, tracking, and management between DOE and offsite property owners.

Job Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Able to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training

  • Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance

  • Self-motivated, requires limited direction

Required Education and Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Sciences
