Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Summary:

Under the direction of the RN lead and with limited supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, assists in conducting invasive cardiac and interventional procedures. Participates in all functions necessary to maintain high standards of care in all areas. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receives and reviews requests for diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiac Cath and Special Procedure Department.

• Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.

• Explains and prepares the patient for all cardiac and/or interventional radiology procedures.

• Prepares procedural table and/or room per department procedures as indicated by protocol.

• Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnosis.

• Operates highly complex equipment within the departments, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.LA.R.A. standards.

• Vast knowledge of sterile technique, various, catheters and equipment to independently assist physician table side during the procedure.

• Performs diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and interventions. Assists with lab EP lab analysis and interpretation of data keeping Physicians/Specialists informed.

• Assists physicians with pacing implementation and other permanent devices related to heart and cardiac health.

• Documents exams, transmits images, and charges accurately.

• Maintains equipment and rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to Manager and/or appropriate personnel.

• Performs various clerical duties.

• Checks stock inventory and initiates orders.

• Must be available for on-call status, as needed, after normal operating hours (include weekdays, weekends and

Required Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience.

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Program.

• Registered by the ARRT.

• Current Active Illinois State License.

• Current CPR.

• Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all hospital personnel and work in a team-oriented environment.

• Verbal and written skills necessary to facilitate communication with a variety of personal.

• Ability to maintain confidential information.

• Ability to take call on rotation (include weekdays, weekends and Holidays, arrival time for STEM! in 30 min.).

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Associates degree or bachelor’s degree.

• ACLS desirable (if no ACLS highly recommended to acquire in 6 months-I year after hire date).

• CV, RCIS or RCES certified or eligible for certification

Physical Demands:

Requires full range body motion including handling and lifting patients as necessary

Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
