Engineering Technician

Hands-on Engineering / Product Development role in a small electrical & mechanical team that work across the entire lifecycle from concept to commercialization within a global market leading technology company.

It’s likely you have purchased or used a product touched by Videojet Technologies this week. From freshness dating to track and trace coding, our technologies help ensure products sold across the globe, in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and industrial marketplaces are authentic and safe for consumers to use.

The position of Engineering Technician is an outstanding opportunity to join a small, high performing multi-discipline design team with a proven track record of developing world leading products (thermal transfer, labelling, inkjet printing machines etc).

Located in our Nottingham office, you'll be involved with the full life cycle of hardware development from the design requirements stage through to product launch. You will work with global teams to deliver these new products to market.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Assembly of new design prototypes and product enhancements, providing suggestions and feedback on ‘design for assembly / design for manufacture’ criteria.

  • Functional testing of hardware & software, accurately documenting and reporting results.

  • Supporting manufacturing queries and new production introductions, including occasional domestic & international travel.

  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in process and procedures.

  • Maintaining, safe and organized work areas, ensuring availability and functionality of tools & equipment.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • HNC/HND in engineering/manufacturing or equivalent vocational training

  • Practical experience in light engineering. Ideally with both mechanical and electrical assembly capabilities

  • Computer literate. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience using CAD software an advantage

  • Basic machining experience and an understanding of workshop safety an advantage
