Commerce Chenango Director of Economic Development in Norwich, New York

Commerce Chenango is seeking a dynamic and hardworking team player as our Director of Economic Development. The Director is responsible for working collaboratively with the Chambers CEO to implement, administrate, and coordinate innovative strategies, programs, and initiatives that foster economic growth in Chenango County.<br> The right candidate will have a track record of turning strategy into execution, converting ideas into action, and implementing practical plans that lead to tangible outcomes. This role requires an analytical and forward-thinking professional with exceptional communication skills, strong project management skills, and an ability to work on several projects simultaneously. <p>

The Director of Economic Development will have a significant impact on helping Commerce Chenango meet our strategic objectives. The current focus of the role is to:<br> Help local businesses be successful in todays ever-changing environment; Identifying and developing economic programs that lead to growth; Help position Chenango County as a destination of choice for businesses associated with Micron and the Southern Tier Clean Energy Hub; Identify and secure State and Federal grants that support the goals and objectives of Commerce Chenango; Help small businesses to access needed capital to grow; Work with stakeholders, businesses, and community leaders to identify market opportunities, understand market gaps in the small business development ecosystem, and develop strategic priorities and support implementation to best position Chamber resources to be impactful; With input from the Director and other key stakeholders, this portfolio of focus areas will grow and change<p> JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br> Manages the development and implementation of the Chenango County's economic development initiatives and activities; Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of various economic development programs and efforts; Provides summaries, reports, and updates about programs and progress, as needed; Build strong and collaborative partnerships to achieve Commerce Chenango's goals and objectives; Identifies opportunities to advance economic growth; Serves as a liaison or member of groups or task forces with various local, State, and Federal agencies; Helps with grant fundraising and the garnering of corporate support for our innovative economic development approaches and initiatives, as needed; Helps to promote and publicize our economic development initiatives and resources to a broad range of stakeholders<p>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<br> A proven leader with 5+ years of experience with government and/or nonprofit programs; Should be passionate about implementing innovative solutions to advance new/more effective working methods; Energetic, proactive, and visionary with exceptional communication skills (both written and oral); Having at least a bachelors degree or a masters degree in public policy or equivalent is preferred; Have a track record of adeptly managing and growing cross-functional relationships and partnerships; Highly organized, with excellent project management skills.
