Chenango County Computer Operations Assistant in Norwich, New York

Chenango County Department of Social Services has an opening for a COMPUTER OPERATIONS ASSISTANT. This is a technical position in the Chenango County Department of Social Services. The position involves responsibility for end-user support and troubleshooting and assisting in the overall operation of various State-developed computer systems, including the Welfare Management System (WMS), for the Department of Social Services and Preston Manor. Duties include processing reports, managing databases and spreadsheets, administering State and local user accounts, and performing data entry as needed. The work requires frequent interaction with Department computer users for problem solving and training purposes. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Social Services Computer Operations Coordinator with some leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. Supervision over the work of others is not normally a requirement of an employee in this class. Does related work as required.<p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <li>Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and EITHER: <li>(A) Successful completion of at least 60 semester credit hours which included at least 12 semester credit hours in computer science; OR
<li> (B) Two years of full-time paid experience, or its' part-time equivalent, in the operation and maintenance of a personal computer network that involved responsibility for troubleshooting, network administration, installation and repair, or help-desk functions; OR <li>(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.<p> The position has a 37 1/2 hour work week and 2023 starting pay rate is $19.64 per hour and includes a full benefits package.<p> A Civil Service examination will be required for permanent appointment at a later date.
