Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Opportunity (Operative) –Fairfield County, Connecticut (Danbury and Norwalk)

Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals, part of Nuvance Health, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join our growing Thoracic Surgery Program at Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals in suburban Fairfield County, Connecticut. The PA will assist our thoracic surgery team in the OR at both hospitals. This is one of the most desirable areas of Connecticut, within an hour of New York City.

The Physician Assistant will get to work with experienced thoracic surgeons and a multidisciplinary team and have access to the latest technologies and treatments for thoracic cancer care. Our thoracic oncology surgeons have extensive experience in Robotics, VATS, esophageal surgery, open and endoscopic tracheal surgery, stenting, EBUS and robotic navigational bronchoscopy. The role will include operative care, pre and post op care, inpatient rounding, and outpatient office visits.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified Physician Assistant with at least 1 year of experience in thoracic surgery or a similar surgical setting. A Connecticut license, Controlled Substance Registration, and Federal DEA are required. Candidates with surgical residency training are welcome to apply. We are seeking excellent communication, clinical and interpersonal skills to facilitate patient care between surgeons and other members of the care team. The candidate must be able to work well both with a large multidisciplinary team as well as independently. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including allowances for CMEs and dues.

Danbury Hospital is a 371-bed hospital Level II Trauma Center. Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and is also a Level II Trauma Center. As teaching hospitals, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 1000+ and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Fairfield County, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the region enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of four season indoor and outdoor recreational activities. The area has highly rated public and private school options and nearby universities. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via car or train.
