Summary:

This is the Lead position for the Security day shift Security Organizational branches (Sentry, Patrol, and Dispatch), with responsibility for patient, visitor and staff protective services, and Security related administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leads security activities on the day shift, including parking, visitor reception, patient and visitor control and access control and photo ID badge related services. Provides oversight of the three NH Security Department Organizational Branches (Sentry, Patrol, and Dispatch).

  2. Leads Security protective services activities, including but not limited to, Code Grey emergencies, close supervision patient watches, patient safety assessment, contraband inventories, patient control services such as managing issues of non-compliance, medication administration, safety stand-bys during staff re-direction efforts, and the application of restraints when required.

  3. Directs and monitors security staff assigned to specific Branch, and ensures the highest level of protective and customer service standards are being met.

  4. Demonstrates strong verbal conflict resolution and de-escalation skills when dealing with patients, visitors, staff and others suffering the effects of emotional crisis.

  5. Leads, directs and monitors security staff searches of patients being held on a physician's order for psychiatric/psychological or chemical dependency treatment.

  6. Ensures that patient searches for weapons, dangerous instruments and contraband are performed by staff in accordance with written guidelines.

  7. Ensures that patient valuables, and contraband are inventoried and properly safeguarded.

  8. Leads and directs Security use of force to control, and when necessary restrain, violent persons. Ensures that the use of force is reasonable and necessary, and documents the facts and circumstances of causation.

  9. Leads Dispatch Operator operations and ensures proper communication, command, control and video monitoring activities are meeting the highest standards.

  10. Writes reports on incidents and occurrences of injury, accident, loss or damage to property and general liability incidents.

  11. Insures shift officers are compliant with all organizational policies and procedures, maintain customer service relations, and perform Dispatch Operator functions in accordance with departmental protocol.

  12. Follows-up on staff daily inspection rounds of the facility insuring security, safety and environmental conditions identified as hazards or regulatory violations are promptly corrected.

  13. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.

  14. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

  15. Performs other duties as required.

Other Information:

  • State of CT Security Officer license preferred.

  • Preferred training/certification in related fields such as OC Spray, Baton, Taser, Handcuff, tactical driving, etc.

  • Preferred training/certifications with Safety/Security related organizations including OSHA, NFPA, FEMA, IAHSS, IFPO, ASIS, etc.
