Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

Summary:

The intern pharmacist would assist the full-time pharmacy staff during times of pharmacist PTO, as an intern may perform many of the functions of a pharmacist while under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

  1. Filling prescriptions.

  2. Patient counseling.

  3. Answering patient inquiries.

  4. Answering drug information requests from providers.

  5. Obtaining prior authorizations.

  6. Consulting prescribers about prescription problems.

  7. Ensuring proper billing of prescriptions.

  8. Performing medication therapy management.

  9. Maintaining drug inventory.

  10. Ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.

  11. Ordering medications from wholesalers.

  12. Consulting drug references for information.

Other information:

Previous retail pharmacy experience helpful.

Candidate must be enrolled at an accredited school of pharmacy.
