ZF North America, Inc. Senior Supplier Development Engineer in Northville, Michigan

Job Duties: Responsible for project management for supplier approval process measures to achieve maturity level of purchased parts while ensuring timely completion of project; Approval process coordinator; Conduct VDA audits at supplier plants, follow-up with action items, and develop suppliers; Apply knowledge of/experience with Forging, Fasteners, and Machining commodity, and the process development APQP & PPAP for those parts; Oversee supplier development activities by leading supplier audits, analyzing supplier performance, and creating improvement plans; Monitor supplier-rating system and provide input on appropriate corrective actions; Work with purchasing to select/develop suppliers through regular assessment, planning meetings, APQP tools, and plant visits; Technical lead of cross-functional teams; Project management activities (e.g., create master project plans and KPI based project tracking); Evaluate risk analysis; Steer task forces and work within task force teams; Technology workshops to screen technology & manufacturing practices at the suppliers; Realization of commodity/process specific Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) actions; and Provide trainings on SDE and Supplier management related topics. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 50% travel required to supplier sites in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada to conduct Process Audit VDA6.3 and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.

Minimum Requirements. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Production technology, or related field, plus 5 years of experience in logistics, quality, engineering, or related occupations, and demonstrated experience with: Forging, Fasteners, and Machining commodity; Process development APQP and PPAP for the Forging, Fasteners, and Machining commodity; VDA 6.3 Process Lead Auditor; APQP; FMEA; Six Sigma methodologies; Process capability analysis; Run@Rate; CQI-9; and Preparing and presenting presentations to high-level management.
