Saint-Gobain External Venture Manager -Nova in NORTHBORO, Massachusetts

NOVA by Saint-Gobain is the Saint-Gobain unit dedicated to developing strategic partnerships between the Group and start-up companies all over the world, and making investments in specific cases. The External Ventures team serves as a unique interface for start-ups to create and develop links with all the Group’s activities. NOVA is seeking an External Venturing Manager to continue to drive Saint-Gobain’s innovative business growth through the exploration of external partnerships and strategic investments.

As part of an energetic global team, you will bring the most promising external innovations to the Saint-Gobain Group and will help Saint-Gobain businesses to benefit from access to new technologies, new business models, and passionate entrepreneurs. In this role, you will work with Saint-Gobain business leaders to advance innovation and grow business activities through identifying and engaging with start-up companies that align with the strategic focus of the business and/or the Group.

You should have a passion for sustainability and energy-related topics. A combination with your strong background in material science will help you evaluate strategic opportunities in industrial energy transition/cleantech/climatetech and related fields.

This will be done by:

  • Building and growing Saint-Gobain’s network in the external innovation ecosystem, and representing Saint-Gobain at industry, investor, and partner conferences Facilitates collaboration between targets and SG businesses

  • Understanding overall strategy within internal business units and translating those business objectives and strategies to identify opportunities aligned with current efforts

  • Dealing with high visibility within the organization, especially with executive teams, potential impact on the business strategy

  • Conducting due diligence, leading deal structure, and negotiating contracts with prospective start-up partners

Competencies:

  • Strategic thinker

  • Strong business acumen

  • Demonstrated passion for customer-centricity

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of experience; Master’s Degree with 7 years of experience or PhD with 3 years of experience in Engineering/Science with additional background in Business, Finance, or Legal being a plus

  • 2 + years of experience in Start-up, Venture Capital Investor, or M&A experience or experience in fields like strategy, consulting, finance, business development, investments, etc. preferred
