Summer Recreation Leaders Location: Recreation Department, Northampton, MA 01060 Department: Recreation Job Status: Full-Time Days: Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri. DEFINITION The Northampton Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Summer Program Recreation Leaders! The City of Northampton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking dynamic individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of children this summer. Be a part of an extraordinary team of staff who are committed to caring and fostering relationships, creating an exciting, safe, wholesome summer camp experience for local kids this summer! Traditional full day camp fun at KidZone and Camp Hamp. Daily adventures with active exploration of local attractions at Teen Expeditions. Safety Village is a half day camp with introductory safety and awareness themed fun. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Leading recreational activities for various age groups within a day camp setting including, activities, games, swimming, field trips, walking, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications - Must have equivalent of 2 full time seasons\' experience in youth related recreation activities; or 1 year of college in a related field. Current first aid and CPR certification required (training provided). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Moderate to heavy physical exertion generally required. MISC. INFORMATION (2) RECREATION LEADERS - SAFETY VILLAGE: \$16.40 PER HOUR (Ages 4-6) (3) RECREATION LEADERS - KIDZONE: \$16.40 PER HOUR (Grades 1-4) (1) RECREATION LEADER - CAMP HAMP: \$16.40 PER HOUR (Grades 5-6) (2) RECREATION LEADERS - TEEN EXPEDITIONS: \$16.40 PER HOUR (Grades 7-10) Please put your First Choice of Program in the \"Home Address (if different)\" box on the First Page of Application. WORK SCHEDULES: These programs run for 7 weeks starting on June 24, 2024, plus two mandatory pre-season training days. Safety Village is 20 hours a week. Camp KidZone, Camp Hamp, and Teen Expeditions are full time 45 hours per week. Monday through Friday with some variations to accommodate trips and special events. Starting and ending dates are discussed during interviews. Qualified Northampton residents will be given first consideration. There are no fringe benefits and no holiday pay for July 4, 2024.
