Arts & Crafts Coordinator Location: Recreation Department, Northampton, MA 01060 Department: Recreation Job Status: Full-Time Days: Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri. DEFINITION The City of Northampton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking dynamic individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of children this summer. Be a part of an extraordinary team of staff who are committed to caring and fostering relationships, creating an exciting, safe, wholesome summer camp experience for local kids this summer! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Self-motivated, creative, independent individual capable of create and teaching age appropriate craft projects for campers ranging from elementary to middle school. Some education/experience in arts and crafts. Demonstrated ability and experience with providing arts and crafts within a children\'s program. Plan age appropriate arts & crafts projects that fit well with a summer or safety related theme. Plan supplies needed and procure them within budget. Guide campers in completing the craft projects or direct Camp Staff in how to complete the projects with campers. Appropriate supply and craft table/area cleanup. Other related duties as appropriate or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications - Some education/experience in arts and crafts. Demonstrated ability and experience with providing arts and crafts within a children\'s program. Ability to transport and carry supplies to camp locations - requires frequent use of a personal or City vehicle. This position serves as the morning extended day supervisor, and assists the Sr. staff as needed with camp operations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to plan, procure and carry arts and crafts materials and supplies, Ability to see the work of campers and assist them in completion. MISC. INFORMATION Hourly rate: \$17.10 This position is 32 hours per week. Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Qualified Northampton residents will be given first consideration. MA Driver\'s license and own transportation preferred. May begin hours in May, and work until August 20, 2024. Must be 16 years of age. College schedules can be accommodated. This position has been designated as Seasonal Positions by the Department of Unemployment Assistance and are exempt from unemployment benefits once programs end.
