Position Description

JOIN OUR TEAMto assist and prepare for further employment our Military Veterans by delivering workshops at locations across the United States and virtually. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these veterans through the Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) that is offered nationally to conduct job assistance workshops.

The Employment Resource Coordinator (ERC) supportsVeterans, Veterans currently serving in the National Guard or Reserves, and their spousescivilianemployment through education and support services. TheERC will support the Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) program effortsthrough grassroots marketing, outreach, collaboration with the local veteran community, and coordination ofBrickandMortar (B/M) employment workshops at select locations other than active military installations.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate in person and, potentially, virtual workshops.
  • A high level of coordination in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to listen to OBTT participants and assist them in identifying and prioritizing their needs.
  • Provides screening and referral services and identify and utilize a network of local, regional, and state resources for employment and employment readiness.
  • Serve as the point of contact for activities in their assigned area of responsibility for all stakeholders, including those from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, State Adjutant General offices, American Job Centers, DOL VETS State Directors, and more.
  • Manages supplies, instructional materials, and office equipment and prepares periodic reports.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekdays, weekends, and some holidays, may be required to address emerging requirements under changing and constrained timelines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, be comfortable instructing and speaking in front of a group, be observant of others, possess the ability to engage an audience, and respond to inquiries independently.
  • Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently on client site and remotely.
  • Market their services using approved messages and materials within their assigned region to increase awareness of services and perform outreach to Veterans, National Guard and Reserve Members, and their Spouses.
  • Reports to a Project Manager.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A High School Diploma and 5 years of experience assisting veterans, service members, and/or spouses in the workplace.

    • OR a Bachelor\'s degree and 3 years of employment or career counselingexperience.
  • To be knowledgeable of the workplace, occupations, and requirements for entry for occupations in the area of responsibility.

  • To be proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office.

  • To work well with veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, spouses, and interagency staff.

  • Experienced in negotiating with partners and outside organizations or agencies relating to veterans, National Guard and Reserve member, or their spouses.

  • The understanding of the military organizational structure, its occupational specia lties and the correlation to the civilian workforce.

  • To be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).

  • To be able to facilitate meetings and provide briefings (in-person and virtually).

  • To be able to prepare and deliver presentations to various size audiences.

  • The ability to travel 25%.
