Amazon Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, Performance & Insights, Amazon Robotics in North Reading, Massachusetts

Description

We are seeking a seasoned data professional with a passion for delivering insightful and influential solutions to ambiguous problems. This person should be a practiced professional who utilizes data, statistics, visualization, and data science to impact within cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to think holistically about complex problems, knowledge of how different robotics subsystems work, and will be adept at defining and executing projects that enhance our causal attributions and models.

Key job responsibilities

You will work cross-functionally with other data, product development, and customer support teams throughout the organization to deliver projects aimed at characterizing, monitoring, and improving the performance of our robotic automation technology across all of Amazon's network including Fulfillment Centers, Sortation Centers, and Air Gateways. In this role, you will use a combination of unified and disparate data sources to uncover insights delivered through decision-driving data white-papers and automated data visualizations to influence the development and deployment of cutting-edge robotic technology. You will work with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers to define and deliver world class data manipulation tools and insights to shape the robotic technology landscape.

A day in the life

• Engage with management and diversified customer groups to learn the needs and recommend business intelligence solutions.

• Partner with data and operations teams to define the scope of data elements and data structure that the team should leverage to enable capabilities.

• Design, implement, and work with platforms that provide business teams ad-hoc access to large datasets (e.g. data visualization tools for non-tech business users)

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, dashboards, etc. to drive key business choices.

• Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve causal attributions.

About the team

The Performance Analytics and Field Insights (P&I) team specializes in developing analytics products and services that enables the service and support teams to proactively monitor and assess the performance of all AR solutions, across all customers. This team, with its expertise in robotics products and operational knowledge, generates insights regarding the performance, adoption, and reliability of AR solutions. Adopting a product-focused approach, P&I delivers analytics services that provide a deeper understanding of the AR network, including its operational aspects and the impact these have on system performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with AWS technologies

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in areas such as data analytics, data science, data modeling, and statistical analysis and modeling.

  • Expertise in storytelling with data and drafting data-rich narratives that can influence decision-making by the support teams and leadership.

  • Experienced in leading analytics team and mentoring/coaching junior team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Proven problem-solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills

  • Knowledge in building advanced visualizations in Tableau

  • Proven track record of taking end-to-end ownership and driving results; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning, task delegation, and coordination across functional teams

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both business, leadership, and technical teams

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, complexity, and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
