The Amazon Robotics (AR) Global Robotics Delivery (GRD) organization manufactures high-quality robotics for design centers across Amazon. It’s a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally. The Advanced Product Quality Engineering (APQE) team is a multi-disciplinary organization focused on Product Quality Engineering across AR’s Global Enterprise. This position will report to the Manager of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering within the Robotics Manufacturing and Technical Operations (RMTO) team.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Manager of Advanced Product Quality Engineering with a proven track record of guiding an agile Quality organization to implement quality best practice while facilitating speed and customer obsession. You will be working with cross-functional teams that engage in product development for both internal and external manufacturing operations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of inclusion.

  • Develop strategy and oversee execution for Product Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, and New Product Introduction (NPI).

  • Develop quality standards and feedback mechanisms for internal manufacturing, supplier manufacturing, and deployed product.

  • Engage with stakeholders including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Technical Operations, and Hardware Development partners to develop roadmap for future engagement models.

  • Develop and implement best practice for NPI phase gates and Product Development Process (PDP).

  • Identify and develop mechanisms for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to drive the right business choices.

  • Develop communication mechanisms for high visibility escalations for both management and execution teams to ensure risks are communicated and mitigated effectively.

  • Define risk assessment mechanisms to make visible risks which we cannot accept, and develop risk mitigation plans where we knowingly accept risks and technical debt.

  • Develop lessons learned feedback mechanism to drive systemic improvement throughout the business.

Up to 30% travel required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, computer science or related engineering field.

  • 5+ years of experience in applying Quality Engineering standards like APQP, PPAP, DfX, and FMEA in NPI.

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Strong process improvement mindset for Agile environments, passion for quality.

  • Excellent business communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Able to write clear and persuasive papers.

  • Able to operate in a highly ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree(s) in Engineering and/or Business/MBA

  • Technical expertise in Mechanical and Electrical components common in Robotics (i.e DC motors, PCBAs, metal fabrication, gears/bearings, sensors, vision systems, etc.)

  • Technical / Engineering Program Management Experience

  • Multi-industry and/or consulting experience in applicable industries (Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Device, etc.). Startup experience is a plus.

  • Six Sigma Green belt

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standards
