Garco Construction Inc. Construction Quality Control System Manager in North Las Vegas, Nevada

This is a full-time position on a construction jobsite. The Construction Quality Control System Manager is responsible for overall management of CQC and has the authority to act in all CQC matters for Garco Construction, Inc. on the project to which they are assigned. The qualified candidate must be detail-oriented, knowledgeable of construction related laws, codes, and regulations, and be able to, among other duties assigned from time to time:

  • Have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract, each subcontract and the plans and specifications in order to assist the Project Manager, Superintendent, and others in development of the onsite procedures

  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports

  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary

  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents

  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner

  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work

  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project

  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems

  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices

  • Communicate effectively, verbally or in writing, with management and staff, as well as third parties, such as owners, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers

    The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interpersonal skills with a variety of individuals and groups, clients, subcontractors, individual employees, jobsite teams, and company executives. The qualified candidate will also have strong relationship building skills, effective communication, and the ability organize and evaluate information and proactively find solutions and lead others.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management and five (5) years combined experience in Project Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager on similar size and type construction contracts.

  • Construction background and three (3) years experience on federal government projects

  • Two (2) years experience QC Manager.

  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques

  • Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers "Construction Quality Management for Contractors" Certification

  • Experience on United States Army Corps of Engineers projects

  • Knowledge of EM 385-1-1

  • Experience in areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.

  • Experience with Spectrum® and Procore® Construction Software

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point

    The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use a computer. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
