The Manufacturing Engineer Technician is responsible for providing support of multiple product families with specific regard to machine support, product quality, product cost, process improvements, safety, and customer feedback of automated assembly, packaging and vacuum drying processes.

A Day in the Life

The Manufacturing Engineer Technician will be responsible for trouble shooting and machine support, root cause analysis for machine outages or production performance issues, and participation in cross functional teams to accomplish project specific goals. This person will be mentored to become the resident expert on production equipment and processes.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide daily production support to set up, trouble shoot, repair, and monitor automated assembly, packaging and vacuum drying processes.

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs production equipment for electrical and controls issues.

  • Generate standard work procedures/troubleshooting guides based on machine failures and resolutions.

  • Supports Preventative Maintenance activities on production machinery.

  • Review manufacturing equipment and processes for improvement potential using OEE metrics.

  • Team with manufacturing and quality personnel on a daily basis to review / disposition production defects and provides potential process and/or equipment corrective actions to assure production schedules and quality expectations are met.

  • Use Root Cause Analysis tools such as 6M, 5 Why’s, and A3’s to address manufacturing and quality nonconformance reports.

  • Provide support as needed in specification development, procurement, build, documentation, validation, and personnel training for automated assembly, packaging and vacuum drying related processes.

  • Support new product development, quality improvement, and integration projects.

  • Maintain excellent communications with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, Planning, and Metrology departments on an as needed basis.

  • Follow established guidelines and management direction with regard to engineering decisions and departmental/company policy.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • High School degree or GED required

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience of relevant and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience

Nice to Have

  • Associates degree in a technical program or other technical training/certification experience with technical capability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical, pneumatic and automated controls.

  • Perform electrical and mechanical repair on automated packaging machines and robotic assembly equipment.

  • Ability to read machine schematics, investigate wiring and component issues.

  • Allen Bradley PLC and ladder logic troubleshooting.

  • Robotic systems, Cognex vision systems, and labeling systems.

  • Perform troubleshooting of automated Vision systems, Robotic systems and labeling systems.

  • Hands on, Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision while learning applications.

  • Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
