Summary The position is located in the DoD Medical Operations Patient Administration, Directorate for Resources Management located at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL. The primary purpose of the Program Support Assistant is to provide coordination, administration and Limited Duty program information to Active Duty Service members, facility staff, local and remote commands and military personnel support offices. Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Receives medical provider recommendations for LIMDU and ensures proper routing and signatures on all LIMDU forms. Counsels in person all Service members referred to LIMDU by FHCC providers, explains program requirements, military personnel actions that will occur upon entering/ending LIMDU status and procedures for making follow-on appointments to all members referred to LIMDU. Prepares and submits standard Naval messages to the local Personnel Detachment (PSD), DUPERS and/or U,S, Marine Corps Headquarters (MCHQ) placing and removing members from LIMDU status. Tracks and provides reports on the status of all Navy andMarine Corps LIMDU personnel In AOR. Reviews all recommendations for LIMDU with emphasis on the probalillity of the Service member's ability to return to full duty. Assists primary care providers with placing and appointing referrals for specialty services for members who may need to exceed one period of LIMDU. Assists Service members with follow-on appointments with providers to assess fitness for return to duty. Provides LIMDU program information to all FHCC Providers, Service members, local and/ or remote commands. Provides guidance and interpretations of regulatory requirements to FHCC providers. Serves as the Deployability Coordinator for any FHCC Active Duty Service members placed in a LIMDU status. Chairs monthly meetings with local command, medical liasions, and remote command medical representatives. Conducts annual LIMDU training session open to all FHCC providers. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary in nature and predominantly involves significant time (4 or more hours daily) of office automation tasks; Incumbent will be required to walk to various clinics several times daily (usually at least two). Incumbent works within a healthcare facility and limited risks to contagious illness exist. Immunity to common infectious diseases may be screened and immunizations may be provided if required. Additional Information Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
