Job Description

The Associate Director, Americas Facility Planning role, is a key AbbVie management position responsible for providing corporate guidance on activities related to strategic planning, market demand and trends, strategic opportunities and business needs, technological advances and legal requirements. Directly responsible for managing and driving the corporations' effective facility utilization of office, lab, and warehouse assets.

Responsibilities:

Americas Planner key responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and centralized management for planning & development, related to divisions or programs, to achieve key strategic business objectives.

  • Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and consistently meets expectations.

  • Makes difficult decisions regarding priorities among projects.

  • Excellent communication skills, cross functional stakeholder management skills, customer relationship skills and executive presence are required.

  • Experience of motivating, directing, and managing performance for 5 to 10 direct reports. Fosters an environment of collaboration, innovation, and exchange of ideas.

  • Understands the business needs and has extensive experience on how to define customer strategic needs when developing a project scope.

  • Integrates technology with business needs when defining project scope. Familiarity with Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems and database management is desirable.

  • Leads the project team in using established PM tools and techniques (scope definition, alternatives appraisal, schedule control, cost control, risk management, etc.) to stay within authorized budget limits and achieve the overall project and organizational objectives.

  • Leads project team comprised of internal and external resources. Performs periodic review of portfolio resource allocation to ensure balance within the team.

  • Coordinate/team with Corporate Real Estate, IT and other ABV internal functions as appropriate.

  • Monitors aggregate performance and value indicators / metrics. Understand importance of same.

  • Anticipates and identifies areas of tactical and strategic risk and mitigates risks through early risk assessments and implementation of fall back /mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborates with functional experts to integrate project management best practices into strategies and tactics associated with the development of key projects.

  • Develops a strategic view of project management practices and methodologies for the division and / or corporation. Assists with integration of common tools and techniques across divisions.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or Construction Administration or closely related discipline, plus demonstrated competence.

  • 12+ years of significant project or program management experience.

  • A career history marked by a consistent series of significant contributions and accomplishments.

  • A post-graduate education/degree is desirable.

  • Experience in motivating, directing, and managing performance for 5 to 10 direct reports.

  • Industry accredited qualifications is a plus.

  • A broad understanding of Real Estate transactions and commercial leases.

  • Experience in the following areas is desired: property strategy, construction administration, procurement, office design, workplace strategy, change management, negotiating/writing contracts, campus master planning, metro planning, laboratory & scientific design, move management & campus restacking strategy.

  • Experience of executing post occupancy and customer satisfaction survey exercises desirable.

  • Experience of compiling metrics, data analytics and developing insights to inform effective decision making.

  • Consistently demonstrated competency with financial systems and fiscal control, as well as project accounting experience.
