About the role
The Datacenter Automation Systems (DAS) team is committed to the successful implementation of autonomous vehicles, semi-autonomous vehicles, and permanently placed equipment throughout multiple datacenters. CBRE is seeking full-time, permanent, mid-level DAS Technical Writer with experience crafting operational procedures, standard methodologies, building operations, construction, and on-site safety products for robotic automation.
The Technical Writing requirements may vary according to Client-determined assignments, but most content relates to design specifications, construction practices, operational safety and automation best practices at data centers. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team crafting highly technical training and documentation for Automation Systems to be used in Data Centers. The individual will collaborate with project engineers, CAD/BIM Operators, project managers, and other technical writers. Ideal candidates must be comfortable communicating regularly via video conference, email and internal ticketing systems.

What you’ll do
Acquire clear understanding of product and documentation requirements by interviewing internal teams, observing operational methods or referring to technical specifications, blueprints, drawings, engineering illustrations, mockups, and prototypes.
Plan, develop, coordinate, and write step by step operational procedure documentation while adhering to standardized formatting.
Copy edit and quality assurance of operational procedure documentation to ensure writing standards are being used.
Update documentation and informative materials based on system changes, comments from subject matter experts, and comments from clients.
Work with management to organize existing documentation, identify deficiencies, and prioritize solutions.
Develop, edit and build content for the documentation of software applications and hardware environments.
Develop, edit, and create content for design, engineering and construction, detailing operational, safety and security best practices within the physical data center environment.
Create and use templates for standardizing system documentation.
Apply professional experience to implement and interconnect communications such as presentations, drawings, graphs, charts, videography, etc.
Validate accuracy of existing documentation against regulatory standards.
Use industry standard project management methodologies to initiate, plan, complete and transition products.
Document and handle risks, issues, actions and decisions that affect deliverables.
Conduct independent research and work with internal / external global teams to produce or revise documentation that follows the client’s global standards and is easily understood by the intended audience.
Facilitate periodic reviews to ensure documentation stays up to date.
What you’ll need
Highly proficient technical writing capabilities
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University
4+ years of experience in a technical writer or instructional designer role.
Outstanding analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Ability to coordinate with and influence stakeholders to determine acceptable solutions.
Shown ability to organize complex product information into clear written descriptions and instructions.
Experience with Smartsheet, Workfront and Google Suites.
Knowledge of Best Management Practices CAD/Technical Writing environment.
Experience with robotic process automation is helpful
Preferred experience with standard PMP or LEED AP methodology.
