Eaton Corporation Sr. Manufacturing Engineer in North Charleston, South Carolina

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer. This role is based out of our North Charleston, SC facility. This role required up to 50% travel.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Charleston, SC location has long served as a Machining Center of Excellence for our Aerospace Group, in 2024 we are excited to bring hydraulic pump assembly and test operations in house. This position will support the transition of these operations from our Jackson, MS plant and the ongoing assembly and test operations in Charleston, SC.

In this role you will:

  • Partner closely with the Jackson, MS engineering team to understand how hydraulic pumps are assembled and tested.

  • Create and improve process plans for products as they transition to the Charleston site.

  • Identify training requirements for new assembly and test positions.

  • Conduct time studies to establish or verify standards.

  • Design and develop tooling to support the assembly and test of the product.

  • Leads test yield investigations.

  • Utilize problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why’s, DMAIC) to identity root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Leads Eaton continuous improvement initiatives such as Rapid Improvement Events, Standard Work Events, Value Stream Mapping, and 5S+ Identify and execute cost out initiatives.

  • Timely processing of customer returns documenting detailed investigation results

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Industrial Technology from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Charleston, SC facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

  • 5+ years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience

  • Experience with hydraulics.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and teaming skills, solid analytical and reasoning skills.

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality control techniques, 5S, Six Sigma, and Quality systems (e.g. QS 9000, ISO 14001, ISO-9001, AS9100).
