Description Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant with previous experience to fill an open position at a respected Retail - Clothes & Access company. This role prepares and consolidates financial statements, analyzes and reconciles accounts, analyzes cash flow, creates budgets and forecasts, prepares audits, and manages internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting to attain company goals. Candidates should enjoy analytical tasks, challenges, and fast-paced environments. This Senior Accountant role is based in North Charleston, South Carolina with a company in the Retail - Clothes & Access field. What you get to do every day

  • Administer Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Partake in various department-wide initiatives

  • Produce error-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

  • Provide Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • When working with business partners, ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls. Additionally, be able to provide support on special requests

  • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner

  • Assemble monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting Requirements

  • 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Proficiency with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • QuickBooks experience

  • Solid understanding of general ledger

  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
