The Boeing Company is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer - Mid-Career or Expert , to join our team in North Charleston, SC . The analysis engineer will be an integral member of the Engineering Design Center, providing structural analysis support and solutions to a wide-ranging list of programs, projects, and components across the enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed structural analysis (static strength, durability/fatigue and damage tolerance) to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools.

  • Guide structural design and configuration development.

  • Perform trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.

  • Research and prepare data to support definition of structural design requirements.

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Work under general direction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston, SC.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Currently possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Engineering.

  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.

  • Ability to support occasional domestic travel to support our customers, less than 10%.

  • Intermediate knowledge equivalent to 3+ years of experience in aircraft structure (e.g., materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion and methods of analysis.

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace stress analysis and/or structural analysis. 9+ years of related experience for Level 4.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the following:

  • Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM.

  • Using NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on aircraft or space structures.

  • Basic hand calculations, the ability to generate free body diagram, and understanding of material properties.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with composite structures and fuselage stress analysis.

  • Experience with Product Development.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to program tools and procedures.

  • Ability to embrace change, solve complex problems and evolving requirements.

  • Ability to forge thoughtful, well-crafted solutions that are robust enough for the long haul.

Typical Education/Experience:

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Mid-Career (Level 3):

Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD or Master + 3 years' related work experience).

Expert (Level 4):

Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD or Master + 7 years' related work experience).

Travel:

Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay Range:

Mid-Career (Level 3): $94,900 - $128,600

Expert (Level 4): $115,600 - $156,500
