The incumbent will work in a team environment as a roving Technician under the direct supervision of a Machine Technician Level 2 or 3 (or supervisor) that is responsible for the oversight and training of the incumbent. This may also include a second shift team. In addition to being proficient in the packing responsibilities, the individual must learn and show continuous progress toward independently performing adjustments and/or repairs to clip and loop manufacturing equipment. This requires a more intimate knowledge of the inter-workings of the clip and loop presses, and how to keep them running optimally. Responsibilities Reviews production needs as listed on the computerized production system, and helps to insure the team’s production levels meet scheduled demand. Alerts shift supervisor to any hindrances in meeting the production schedule. Works to manage product inventory to increase inventory flow (turns). Starts up, operates and performs machine maintenance as directed by the party responsible for the incumbent’s training as needed in order to keep the equipment running/operational. Follows all safety procedures, particularly proper lock-out and tag out procedures. Ensures machine guarding is properly in place on presses before operating the machines. Cleans presses and sweeps floor at end of each shift, or as necessary throughout the shift. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May work as a team with other Press Department employees on process improvement projects. Runs, prints (if necessary), and understands the open order report in order to determine which clips need to be produced and establish the priority for daily production. Ensures proper wire/string is installed/welded to equipment depending on product being produced. Qualifications Professional Experience Must be able to safely and simultaneously manage/maintain multiple clip and loop presses and have at least 12 months of clip production experience with a successful rating on performance appraisal(S) and/or at least 2 years of prior general mechanic experience. Must possess the ability to work effectively with others, in an independent production team environment. Good oral communication skills. Additional Preferred Education/Skills High School Diploma or the equivalent Previous experience working in a manufacturing facility. Previous experience using standard calipers, or other similar measuring equipment. Previous experience in an ISO-certified production environment. Previous experience working with a computerized production scheduling system. Previous experience as a mechanic/operator on production equipment.
