Vibram Companies General Maintenance Mechanic - 1st Shift & 2nd Shift needed in North Brookfield, Massachusetts

Job Descriptions:

SUMMARY

Install, repair and maintain a wide variety of equipment, machinery and systems involving mechanical, welding, carpentry and other skills, following established practices and procedures.

Work from prints, sketches, drawings, charts, tables, manufacturer’s information, written and verbal orders and instructions. Use micrometer, calipers, rule, hand and portable power tools, saws, machine tools, arbor press, chain falls, material moving and other similar equipment.

Position may require 2nd class fireman’s license if boiler work is involved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Perform mechanical fabrications, installations, repairs and maintenance duties on a variety of machinery and equipment and systems. Install, adjust and fit a variety of parts; align, position and square for proper operation. Disassemble, diagnose and repair faulty equipment and machinery. Replace and/or repair pulleys, belts, bearings, pumps, motors, drives, thermo couples, rollers, etc. Clean water pumps, compressors, changer filters, seals, gaskets, etc. Variety of equipment and machinery to be repaired and maintained includes, but is not limited to: Banbury mixers, presses, mills, stamping machines, extruding machines, buffers, ovens, conveyors.

  2. Operate welding equipment and cutting torch to perform a normal range of maintenance welding in all positions. Weld miscellaneous angles, braces, supports, etc.

  3. Set up and operate bench lathe and milling machine to perform a normal range of duties to turn shafts; drill, tap, etc. a variety of parts and items.

  4. Assist in plumbing, piping, and electrical installations and repairs to install lines, feeds, anchor fixtures, repair and/or replace fittings, devices, hoses, solenoids, switches, faucets, packings, traps, etc.

  5. Requisition needed material, tools ad equipment. Maintain required records, counts and other data. Detect and report defective and unsafe equipment and materials as well as unusual situations to supervisor. Observe and obey all safety rules, regulations and practices. Wear and employ all required safety devices and equipment. Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner.

  6. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

3-4 years of experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
