KLM Farms Farmworker: Sod in North Branch, Minnesota

Need 7 full-time, temporary, seasonal Farmworkers to work in North Branch, MN and Harris, MN. From: 04/16/2024 - 11/30/2024 Work: 40 hrs./week, Mon.-Fri. 7 hrs./day, Sat. 5 hrs./day. Must Apply By: 08/09/2024 JOB DUTIES: Perform various activities associated with growing grass and sod at a commercial turf grass nursery. All work will be performed in an outdoor environment. Aid in soil preparation, sodding large areas, sow grass seed, plant plugs of sod grass. Cut, roll, and stack sod according to supervisor's instructions. Weed, hoe, propagate, water, fertilize, spray, monitor, trim, weed, cut, roll, stack, load, transport, and discard sod. Operate mowing equipment, drive a tractor pulling a wagon through fields and/or between fields. Bag certified grass seed. Operate trucks, tractors, forklifts, bobcats, mowers, weed-eaters, and other farm equipment. Tractors used to drag, tow, lift sod-specific equipment through fields. Work with sod harvesting equipment and sod planting equipment. Load and unload empty pallets by hand. Clean fields of rocks, roots, limbs, stumps and trees, and miscellaneous debris. Work with center pivot and travelling gun irrigation systems, and diesel and electric pumps, bag sand with shovels, clean debris from dams and suction lines. Perform general maintenance farm maintenance. Drive field trucks in and around farm. Work in teams, coordinate with team members to accomplish tasks. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum (3) months experience operating 50+HP sod harvester and other sod farming equipment; valid Drivers License or able to obtain one within 30 days of hire; able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers; able to lift 60 lbs.; must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order; must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time; must able to perform duties that require extensive sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping or bending over and repetitive movements; possible random drug testing at no cost to the employee, and failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination. No minimum education requirement. EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance; employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. Required tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.
