BFAIR RN - DDS Residential in North Adams, Massachusetts

The RN is to support the overall mission of the DDS Residential Department and implement its philosophy and goals so that all levels of the organization, its activities, programs and plans recognize and utilize strategies to promote personal well-being for each member served. Responsible for the monitoring, assessment and planning of each individual\'s health needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Registered Nurse by the Massachusetts Board of Nursing and with at least two years\' experience in the direct care of the elderly or disabled. Ability to complete all initial and ongoing background checks including but not limited to: CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, Driving record, E-verify, Physical, PPD and licensing and/or certification checks (i.e. nursing). Valid US driver\'s license and ready access to a vehicle. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain all certification needed in the program including: CPR, First Aid, Safe Techniques to Avoid Restraint and Training (START), and BFAIR Human Rights Training. May need to attend workshops, seminars or BFAIR functions as needed for job development. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the agency\'s policies and procedures that impact their jobs. Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the agency\'s health information policies and procedures under the direction of the agency privacy officer is a pre-requisite for this position.
  2. Facilitate quality services through adherence to agency, DDS, DPH, ABI and MFP standards. Adhere to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission\'s Mandated Reporter Guidelines.
  3. Provide or coordinate applicable staff training in medical/health related areas.
  4. Present and train staff and other program personnel including individuals as needed. Including becoming a MAP trainer and offer MAP training as needed.
  5. Attend team meetings as necessary, staff meetings and other meetings that may be required.
  6. Meet one time a week with each of the DDS House Managers and review all the appointments that occurred during the past week to ensure that all medication changes were appropriately made and follow up has occurred/been scheduled.
  7. When individuals have been admitted to the hospital RN will provide daily visits and will review all discharge plans before the individual comes home to ensure everything is in place such as medications, and or assistive devices.
  8. Assist in completing required documentation including monthly reports.
  9. Provide specialized training groups for members of each program such as diabetes, low cholesterol, general safety, etc.
  10. Adhere to agency/personnel policies, DDS, ABI, MFP and DPH regulations; follow emergency and call-in procedures.
  11. Participate in conferences, workshops and related trainings to stay abreast of developments in the field.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the DDS Residential Director and/or Administration. Act as an appropriate role model through dress, speech and actions while in the program and in the community to foster positive social/relationships and skill development.
  13. Identify emerging crisis situations and provide assistance as needed with other staff and/or management team members. Effectively perform crisis intervention which may include: providing emergency first aid/CPR; performing fire evacuation, disaster relocation or emergency search; handling other crisis management procedures in accordance with program procedures.
  14. Maintain communication relationships with family members and/or guardians, residential, day, employment staff and all other pertinent agency personnel and team members
