SUMMARY

The Accountant I performs professional accounting work in preparation of financial statements, reports and analyses, reconciliations, general ledger entries and monthly financial statements related to all CNI entities. This position receives assignments from and works closely with the Assistant Controllers and applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to prepare, record and review financial information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility and ownership/accountability of actions taken.

Prepares and analyzes monthly reports, and special reports, as assigned. Ensures adherence to all closing deadlines.

Understands, researches and applies generally accepted accounting principles.

Prepares journal entries and posts to automated general ledger system.

Manages multiple projects and deadlines, which may include participating in and/or managing a wide variety of special projects.

Maintains updated and proper file documentation for the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), external auditors, as well as for internal audits.

Maintains CNI policies and operating procedures.

Responds to Assistant Controller requests; completes assigned tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner.

Helps provide research to inquiries received from a variety of sources. May work closely with other departments and/or vendors in execution of daily duties.

Relies on judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsible to provide superior customer service at all times.

Assists in all areas of Finance, as needed.

May supervise lower-level employees.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor\'s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance with all applicable rules (federal, state, local, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, Prime Contract requirements, etc.) for themselves and the company as a whole.Fosters an environment in which they will reportanyviolations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor\'s Degree and minimum of one (1) year relevant accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.Specialized experience, skills, knowledge, training or certifications may be considered in lieu of required level of education. Government contracting experience a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGRISTRATION

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITIES

Working knowledge of accounting practices with ability to analyze financial documents and reconcile accounts.

Working knowledge of standard cost accounting concepts, practices and procedures.

Operational knowledge of GAAP and related government regulations / policies with ability to aptly apply procedures.

Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite with expert knowledge of Excel.

Organized and detail-oriented with ability to plan and accomplish goals.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and to meet specified deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.

Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
