SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

BBandE is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BBandE team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BBandE is currently looking for aSeniorElectrical Engineertosupportour NAVFAC MIDLANT Program in Norfolk, VA.

JobDuties andResponsibilities

  • Conduct field evaluation and generate review comments for electrical designproficiencyin accordance withcode standards for in-house and AandE design submittals; ensure comments are resolved and incorporated into the design; ensure AandE contract work has been satisfactorily completed
  • Conduct site visits prior to design to perform assessments to generate electrical systems designs requirements;assistwith construction quality assurance (QA) by performing code required special inspections orrequiredelectrical observations
  • Witness acceptance testing and provide trouble shooting recommendations of electrical equipment and systems as part of the facility commissioning process
  • Use AutoCAD and/or REVIT software, Microsoft Office products, electrical engineering design and analysis software and other applicable DoD computer systems and software used by the Command
  • Produce results of analysis in writing andconsolidatefindings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts; make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies
  • Comply withSafety Policy and Guidance and use personal protective equipment
  • Typical projects include new build and renovation of administration, industrial, research, recreational, medical, security, waterfront, airfield, and living facilities

KeyQualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of Electrical Engineering isrequired
  • Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to electrical engineering design, including the NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), IEEE C2 (National Electrical Safety Code), and the International Building Code
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting electrical engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams
  • Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to electrical engineering design; specific design experience in interior and exterior lighting; facility power distribution systems, including standby power generation; telecommunication systems - including voice, data, cable TV and Wi-Fi; security systems including closed circuit TV; grounding systems; instrumentation/controls related to industrial processes, lightning protection systems; medical facility systems; audio visual systems; and site electrical distribution including medium-voltagedistribution switchgear, substations, and transformers; site systems distribution; and overhead and underground distribution

Experienceand Education

  • A minimum of10years of professional electrical engineering code compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, isrequired
  • Bachelor's degree in an electrical engineering program from an Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) isrequired

Physical Requirements

  • Mustbe ableto rema n in a stationary position at least 60% of the time
  • Abletooperateoffice equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
  • Capable oflight lifting, under 10 lbs.
  • Ableto work on-siteon a standard 8-hour shift Monday-Friday
