Norton Sound Health Corporation Maintenance Technician 1 in Nome, Alaska

Purpose of Position:

Provide skilled maintenance and complex repair work on the physical plant, hospital, campus grounds, and limited medical and non-medical equipment.

Maintenance Tech is equal to and provides the same function as the deffinition of Maintence Engineer as described in the NFPA and NSHC policies Procedures or Plans.

Uphold the organizations vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organizations policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform high level preventive and corrective maintenance on physical plant equipment such as HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems, high- and low-pressure oil-fired water and steam boilers, and water heating systems
  • Test equipment using safety analyzer, volt meters, ohm meters, amp meters and special hand tools
  • Inspect, calibrate, adjust, clean, and lubricate mechanical and electrical controls, valves, gauges, timing devices and meters. Report equipment and structural problems beyond own skill level, needed equipment or supplies to immediate supervisor
  • Provide installation and repair services on complex, major systems throughout the facility as indicated by appropriate logs and work orders
  • Train and mentor junior level engineers and technicians on complex preventive maintenance and repair work
  • Perform other duties as assigned
