NANA Regional Corporation Building Maintenance Technician I-III - Nome School District ($26-$33/HR, DOE + Benefits - Nome, AK) in Nome, Alaska

Job Description

This position provides scheduled, unscheduled, preventative and emergency maintenance services for all Nome Public Schools District facilities. This position will support maintenance and repair for the Nome Public Schools in Nome, AK.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all physical plantequipment. This includes but is not limited to HVAC systems, building automation systems, electrical, plumbing systems, oil fired boilers, hydronic hot water heating systems and heavy equipment operation.

  • Keeps equipment, systems, and buildings ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; following established policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.

  • Performs plumbing duties such as snaking and clearing stoppages, replacing fittings, p-traps, toilets, sinks, faucets, installing dishwashers, trouble-shooting leaks, changing water heater elements, etc.

  • Replaces electrical fixtures and outlets.

  • Troubleshoot appliances, install and repair cabinets, adjust doors etc.

  • Painting of interior and exterior surfaces etc.

  • Carpentry and drywall repairs.

  • Monitors status of Fire alarm, fire protection, emergency power and building automation and controls systems routinely.

  • Maintains continuity between shifts by documenting maintenance actions; noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring.

  • Documents all work and actions taken and inputs data into a computer management system.

  • Provides technical direction to other maintenance employees when needed.

  • Maintains NMS Maintenance and Safety Standards.

  • Assist with the organization and cleanliness of maintenance shop, remove garbage as needed.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Three (3) or more years of verifiable experience in the building maintenance, electrical, HVAC, plumbing trades.

  • Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

  • Must have basic skills in Word and Excel and the ability to operate the Maintenance Work Order System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive facility maintenance experience with emphasis on commercial electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

  • Previous experience with Direct Digital Control systems is preferred.

  • Possess a 3rd class boiler license.

  • Technical certificate or higher in an established building trade is strongly desired.

  • Heavy Equipment operations experience is preferred.
