Job Description Summary

Project Engineering Manager will be leading the projects in the warranty phase along with the project manager working towards project closure. The role involves closing remaining project punch list, documentation and the handling process and communication. The role involves managing interface with many internal and external stakeholders, including customers. This position will provide the candidate an ideal opportunity to develop problem solving and communication skills in a global environment and build up a network within the HVDC community. The position will be guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Project Engineering leader/manager to develop a scope of reaming completion works, prepare a schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.

  • Provide technical leadership and interface with Project Manager to estimate cost to completion of the project.

  • Responsible to interfaces and co-ordinate various stakeholder to close project warranty scope.

  • Own the project plan for warranty engineering scope, Engineering mobilisation planning, on-time delivery and business process adherence, raise change request where appropriate.

  • Implementing process and ensure quality of deliverables

  • Leading project engineering resources to deliver engineering scope.

  • Motivate and empower the project team providing insights and rewards to the team.

  • Responsible for customer management for technical scope of remaining project works.

  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, or engineering.

  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations and uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks.

  • Ensure project on-time delivery and reduce Cost of Poor Quality.

  • Ability to decide on priority call on various tasks within the project.

  • Provide constructive feedback where appropriate.

  • Provide immediate feedback and seek to correct behaviors of the team that do not foster a good culture or contribute towards unsafe behavior or bad practices that jeopardize our achievements.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent including power systems and power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business.

  • Add on advantage for experience in HVDC industry including HVDC station equipment and design.

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage team organisational risks

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting to other stake holders.

  • Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution.

  • Experience in technical leadership.

  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel to support projects globally.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Demonstrate ability to lead programs / projects.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
