Description

Title: Medical Office RN - Physical Medicine -Newtown, CT.

Per Diem 8 hour shifts between 8:00am-5:00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays when needed. Hourly Pay Rate: $46.35

Summary: To assist the physician during office procedures by conducting initial and ongoing assessment as well as assisting throughout procedure.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares materials, supplies, equipment and the patient to assist the physician or the physician assistant with the patient's medical exam.

  2. Obtains the patients history and basic medical data such as vital signs, temperature, height and weight, vision and chief complaint.

  3. Reviews charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the procedure.

  4. Assess patients prior to procedure (e.g. pain level, any current infections and patients on blood thinners)

  5. Position and prepare patients on procedure table.

  6. Monitor patients’ vital signs as well as assume duties within or out of the sterile field.

  7. Start and maintain patients on intravenous fluids.

  8. Collects, prepares and analyzes patient specimens as directed by the physician or physician assistant.

  9. Ensure adequate levels of all supplies are available in all procedural room(s). Stock as needed.

  10. Instructs the patient and family on how to perform physician recommended preventive care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests, monitor treatment progress and note symptom changes.

  11. Contacts the patient by telephone to provide requested follow-up, advise them of test results or relay a physician's instructions.

  12. Performs organizational responsibilities to achieve the Practices' and WCMG missions through a process of total quality improvement.

  13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other information:

Required: Five years job-related experience preferred. One year supervisory experience required. Medical knowledge and terminology. Computer skills/data entry (including Microsft Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of insurance contracts and requirements. Clinical and business office functions, including direct patient care. Verbal and written English proficiency.

Minimum Experience: three years

Desired: Associates Degree preferred. Previous medical office experience preferred.
