The Cigna Group Data Science Senior Advisor (Common Currency Solution Value) - Hybrid) - Hybrid in Newton, Massachusetts

Summary

The Data Science team is searching for an energetic and driven Data Science Sr. Advisor to bring best in class analytics and leadership to the Global Data and Analytics organization. The Data Science Sr. Advisor will contribute alongside a team of data scientists that are responsible for Common Currency Solution Evaluations. The goal of these evaluations is to identity the impact of Cigna Solutions on Total Cost of care using a consistent methodology and framework. The insights from these evaluations will be used to inform enterprise Affordability Initiatives.

The Solution Value Analytics team is responsible for generating actionable metrics and insights to internal and external business partners and customers that help reduce health costs, improve clinical outcomes, provide financial security and measure and forecast business performance. The team provides analytical discipline and rigor to enable fact-based decisions for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage high level tasks (programming, methodology, automation) contributing to performing Common Currency Evaluations

  • Partner with other Data Science teams to support the Common Currency initiatives (Methodology, Governance, coordination of work and roadmaps across Data Science Verticals)

  • Partner with the Product Owner for a new Clinical Program Evaluation tool that Cigna is building and deploying in production (based on Common Currency Framework)

  • Build and validate programmatic foundation driving Clinical Program Evaluation Tool

  • Evolve Clinical Program Evaluation Tool toward an automated state

  • Utilize data science and advanced analytics to create actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders to advance Cigna’s strategic objectives (including Solution value and Affordability)

  • Stay up to date on latest data science tools and techniques (e.g. modeling, technology, and industry trends). This includes internal techniques such as available data sources and analytic platforms

  • Stay up to date on Cigna Solutions (including Coordinated and Point Solutions initiatives)

  • Regularly communicate work and give presentations with business stakeholders and senior leadership

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' of experience analyzing health insurance claims (Medical, Lab, Eligibility, etc.)

  • Strong technical skills extracting and analyzing large amount of data across various platforms using SQL, Python and/or SAS

  • Ability to translate analyses into actionable insights for business leaders

  • Prior experience automating solutions

  • Strong verbal/written communication, leadership and presentation skills

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to perform program evaluation analyses

  • Experience coordinating strategy and work efforts across multiple stakeholders

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Economics, Epidemiology, Actuarial Science, or Data Science highly preferred

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 121,400 - 202,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
