Northeast Kingdom Community Action is seeking an experienced nonprofitDirector of Community Engagementto join our team! Your primary responsibility will be to support the mission of NEKCA (Northeast Kingdom Community Action) in connecting with communities throughout the Northeast Kingdom (Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans Counties). Overall, the Community Engagement Director will be responsible for designing and executing outreach activities to build relationships with communities, interfaith partners, non-profits, schools, health care providers and other stakeholders in the NEK. The ideal candidate will have experience in community engagement and program development. The Director will work with local community organizations, and other stakeholders, to help create and maintain relationships, build awareness, and expand the reach of our initiatives. In this role, as the Director, you will also be responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications plans to promote these initiatives. The Director will also provide guidance and support to interagency departments in the development and implementation of their own community initiatives.

  • Hire, supervise and evaluate a Community Engagement Team
  • Managing a team of community engagement staff members to ensure that programmatic operations and services are carried out successfully, this includes outreach services, food shelves/marketplaces, mobile outreach units, and the NEKCA Thrift Store.
  • Lead in a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the community to identify and secure resources
  • Actively participate in NEK Prosper! and Vibrant ONE (Accountable communities for health
  • Administer initiatives that address food insecurities, including food shelves and mobile outreach related staff
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness and engagement with communities
  • Form trusting relationships with community members using a whole family approach
  • Conduct community surveys, focus groups and engage community members with lived experience for input on services and needs
  • Implement strengthening families\' strategies and programming in community-based settings
  • Work with internal teams to develop innovative programs and initiatives that align with the NEKCA strategic plan
  • Create opportunities for community participation and social connection
  • Track, analyze, and report on outreach activities and results
  • Help manage efforts such as grants, special events, and other initiatives
  • Attend community events, meetings, and workshops to represent the organization
  • Prepare regular reports on program performance and progress
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
